Children's Book Reading with David A Poulsen

Because a significant number of my books are written for kids, I am fortunate to be invited into upwards of sixty schools per year to share my journey to becoming an author, to read from my books and sometimes to conduct writing workshops for kids in the upper grades. One of the books I enjoy reading most is my picture book—I Wish I Could Be Like Tommy Blake. Because it’s written for the little guys, we always have a lot of fun with the character (who like me) wants to be like the cool kid in the school, and, of course, Ron Desnoyers' amazing illustrations are hugely popular as well. I thought that with kids forced to miss school, sports and a whole lot of other activities, this might be a good time to have some fun with me reading the book exactly like I do in schools. Special thanks to then Minister of Education, Dave Hancock, who distributed the book to every grade one student in the province of Alberta and to Cassie Bradley’s grade one kids at Berry Creek Community School for their help in writing the book.
