David Poulsen - Pro Rodeo Announcer

A former rodeo competitor - he admits to being a not-very-good bareback rider and later an accident-prone rodeo clown--David Poulsen has taken up residence in announcer's stands across North America. The results have been tremendously positive both for David and audiences who have heard his voice for the past thirty-four years and over 2500 performances.

The likeable Alberta native has appeared at many of the major rodeos and bull riding events across Canada, among them the Canadian Finals Rodeo (four times), the Calgary Stampede for the last twenty-eight years, Canada’s PBR Finals (four times) as well as several amateur and semi-professional championship finals events throughout western Canada. Dave's enthusiastic and knowledgeable commentary and upbeat fun-filled style have won him fans wherever he has appeared.

Equally at home in front of a TV camera, he has been seen on CTV Wide World of Sports, TSN Television Sports and for over twenty years co-hosted the popular Stampede Roundup program on Calgary's CFCN-TV first with Russ Peake and later with Glen Campbell. He also acted as co-host of the documentary series The Complete Rider for The Outdoor Life Network and most recently was a regular contributor, with his wife Barb, to the popular Cowboy Country, seen for four seasons in Canada and the US.

David's announcing talents have also taken him to big and small screen dramas; most recently he appeared in Heartland, the popular series that is filmed not far from Dave’s home in the Porcupine Hills, south and west of Calgary. He twice played the role of a rodeo announcer in the successful family series The Black Stallion and was behind the microphone for the rodeo scenes in the movie Convict Cowboy which starred Jon Voigt.

Look for Dave on the 2013 Road to the CFR web and television broadcasts of a number of Canadian Professional Rodeos including the 40th edition of the Canadian Finals Rodeo at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta in November.

Next year's schedule will see Dave on the rodeo and bull riding trail from early spring through late fall. To check for available dates, fees etc, please call 403 625-2797 or email Dave at poulsend@telusplanet.net.
